Thunderbird
In 2025, nearly 30 campers took on the challenge of “swimming Thunderbird,” covering a mile along Winnipesaukee’s shoreline, accompanied by lifeguards in kayaks. Throughout the summer, the swim staff offered five opportunities to attempt Thunderbird, open to campers who had reached a certain level of competency in their swim lessons. Each camper who completed the challenge earned a tagua nut necklace. These necklaces have been a point of pride for Kabeyun folks since the swim staff began awarding them in the late 1990s.
