The Log of the West Wind – 2025 News of Friends and Alumni
This is the 26th edition of the Log of the West Wind. We love hearing from Kabeyun folks! Please send your news and photos to [email protected]
Atticus Borggaard completed the Appalachian Trail in August just prior to starting his first year at Brown University. Atticus spent 142 days on the AT, during which time he wore through five pairs of shoes, ate 60 boxes of mac and cheese, and saw six bears.

Michael Henrich and his family had much to celebrate in 2025. Graham started his career of service at the United States Military Academy at West Point, while his brother Theo is enjoying high school, hockey, and his term as president of his temple youth group. Michael and his wife Renee earned a trio of awards for their boutique public relations agency, Henrich Communications, including their work supporting the New Hampshire-based nonprofit organization Common Man for Ukraine.

Congratulations to Ben Heath and Peyton (Sternfeld) Heath, who married in August in Detroit. The couple lives in Boston with their mini-poodle, Pippin. Ben works as a software engineer and Peyton is a lawyer.

Jane Holiday and Will Butler, who met as Kabeyun counselors six years ago, married on an Oregon beach last summer. They now live in Seattle.
Vinny Loffredo-Smith and Jacob Warden explored Wyoming’s Wind River Range in September. They backpacked for five days in the southern part of the range, covering just over 50 miles.

Congratulations to Pierce Malloy, who has been accepted to the U.S. Navy’s highly competitive Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate program. He’s on track to become an instructor at the Navy’s Nuclear Power School in Charleston, SC, after completing his degree from Emory University.
In July, Jamie Klickstein and Jay Remington spent four days backpacking in the Wind River Range. The two hadn’t shared a tent since they were campers on Kabeyun hiking trips in the early 1980’s and now are planning their next backpacking trip in Idaho’s Sawtooth Range. Jamie recently retired from a long career at Oliver Wyman.

Cam Netland and Ekaterina “Kate” Hultin became engaged this fall, four years after they met as graduate students in English Literature at the University of New Hampshire. Cam is close to finishing his PhD dissertation, “The Garden of the Machine: Wildness and Digital Domestication,” which examines, in part, how authors have represented wildness as restorative during decades of increased digital technologies. He writes, “This piece was incredibly informed by my tech-free summers at Kabeyun,” and thanks Kate for her steadfast support.

From the Lodge stage to Broadway, David Hyde Pierce returned to his Kabeyun roots last spring, starring in “Pirates! The Penzance Musical,” a jazz-infused revival of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic. As a camper and a counselor, Dave performed, directed, and played piano for Gilbert and Sullivan productions at Kabeyun. In late April, Larry Golding, Doug and Betsy Latham, Carl and Ellen Metzger, Kurt Ehrenberg, and Maria Latham went to New York to see the show and catch up with the star. Back in 1975, Doug, Carl, Kurt, and Maria all performed in the “Pirates” production that Dave directed at camp!

Jeff Spielberg was thrilled to visit Kabeyun in August. He lives in Boston and frequently travels to Washington, DC, for work. Jeff spends most of his weekends in Lincoln, NH, helping his 3 year-old son get comfortable on skis and volunteering with the local ambulance service. Jeff writes, “If anyone finds themselves skiing at Loon, please get in touch!”
